Advance method

1. Right-click on your current Dorgem desktop icon and select Create Shortcut

2. You should see a new Dorgem (2) icon on your desktop - right-click on it this time, and choose Properties

3.Make sure the Shortcut tab is selected, and change the Target: to:

“C:\Program Files\Dorgem\Dorgem.exe” /c:cam2

If you installed Dorgem to somewhere other than the default location, make the appropriate changes.

4.Click Apply and then to return to your desktop. Double-click the Dorgem (2) icon. When it launches, notice that it’s titled Dorgem (cam2). Repeat the same steps you did for the first camera (though choose a different file name to save the image as).

1. First you have to install your web cam (if you still haven't install). if you lost the software, here are links to download the drivers for some of the most common web-cam vendors :

2.Secondly download and install the software Dorgem of the motion detector and follow the step below.

3.Launch Dorgem and select your Webcam from the Camera selection drop-down list.

4.Click the Preview button to display the view your webcam has. Physically adjust the camera to face the area you want to monitor.

5. Click the Source button and make any adjustments to the Brightness, Contrast and/or other settings. Click OK when you’re happy with the results.

6.Click the Options button

7. Place a check in the box labeled Use motion detection. Certain Webcams (most often Labtec) can require Dorgem to “reconnect” after a certain period of no motion being detected. For now leave this box unchecked. If you notice that your Webcam isn’t capturing any images even though it should have, revisit this section and place a check in the box. It should be noted that if you do need to use this setting, your cam will likely take a picture every time Dorgem “reconnects” to it, so try using 5 minute (or higher) intervals. Otherwise you’ll end out with a LOT of pictures, most of which won’t have captured actual “motion”.

8. Click OK after you have enabled motion detection to return to the main Dorgem window. Now you’ll need to create a ‘profile’ - which Dorgem refers to as Storage events. Click the Store settings button to create an event.

9. Choose File and click OK

10. Enter a Name: for this event, make sure Enable is ticked, and then set an interval. Since you’ll be using motion detection, you probably want to capture images fairly “closely together” - so try 1 or 2 seconds. If you know for certain that this camera will detect a lot of motion (your camera faces an area with a lot of movement) you may want to set this somewhat higher. This setting can always be changed later, so experiment a bit. Click the … button next to Filename:

11.After that create a file name and save it.

12.Click Ok

13. Click Close to return to the main Dorgem window

14. Wave your hand in front of the camera. Go take a look...

15. If it didn’t work, start again at step 3 and double-check everything.

Solution for the limitation of motion sensor

Yes Mr.Chan i would like to tell you to prevent these problem the sensor manufacturers have recommend to reduce the sensitivity of the sensor. For example, anyone who is walking slowly towards the door or entering the door the sensor may not be detected and the door will be still closing.

Motion sensors have some problem...

1 --> it has a limited distance to detect the motion

e.g) while you are playing a wii, you cannot stand or sit too far away, it may not detect the controller movement ...

2 --> if a motion sensor for the automatic door is not mounted securely, normal vibration, sign,plants and neon light can trigger the door open.

e.g)this is very dangerous, if a customer pauses or their forward motion stops, and a motion sensor is all you have, the door will close on that customer and could cause an injury.

3 --> It cannot detect the small objects such as insects or raindrop.

So Mr.Gan do you much more clearer about motion sensor already???

haiz....
Today i wanna to let you know and give some example what are the devices that has been used motion sensor technology.
one of the exmaple is Wii, Wii is come from the Nitendo company which is located in Japan. This device is using motion sensor technology and it is wireless. Wii it have 3 type of devices, first is the main device that can insert CD game, second is the controller and third is the detector. you can use the controller point to the detector and then the player inside the game will move.

1 --> Passive Infra-red
2 --> Ultrasonic
3 --> Microwave

Passive Infra-red
Normally passive infra-red is looks for the body heat.

This technology it sends out pulses and detect the moving object.

Microwave
This technology is sends out microwave pulse and detect the moving object. It is similar to the police radar gun.

I am Ng Shyh Jyef you can call me Jyef as well, thanks for you to view my blog...Doing this blog is for my first assignment which is CS135 known as New Technology and HCI...
Lecturer Andrew Ho is teaching me in this subject, he is a nice lecturer, during his class i would not feel bored cause sometime he will make some jokes.
So in week 2 he was given us a task and it is also our first assignment, in this assignment we have to create a blog and then post the article of the new technology.
